Ballard to Bainbridge Race, April 2000

Here are some pictures I took at the beginning of a Sound Rowers race on Puget Sound between Ballard (NW Seattle) and Bainbridge Island in my Escapade pedal propelled boat.

Here is my boat just after launching it near the Shilshole Marina by Golden Shores Park. You can hardly see the windshield after I buffed it with some Novus plastic cleaner/polisher. That stuff seems to work quite well to remove scratches.

Here are some of the race contestants in the more typical craft one sees at Sound Rowers events.

And the race is on! This picture is about the last I see of these racers, as they travel about 50% to 100% faster than I do. However, I don't get nearly as wet as these guys, and generally do not worry about capsizing, even in rough water. It can get pretty exciting, though, as we encountered some 4 to 5 foot waves in the wake of some fast moving tug boats!
