Lake Union Cruise February 5, 2000

These are some pictures taken on a late afternoon cruise in my Escapade pedal powered boat on Lake Union, located in the middle of Seattle, WA.

This is one of the aquatic alleys on Lake Union, between some of the houseboats moored along the shores. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to maneuver between the houses, boats and geese! However, the Escapade can pretty easily turn around in these tight spaces, and only requires a couple of feet for safe passage.

This houseboat has a lot of neat artwork, including an iron horse, authentic totem pole, and a great view of the lake.

Here is a view of the Aurora Avenue bridge towards the Olympic Peninsula.. You can see the snow covered mountains off in the distance.

The above picture is of two out-of-service car ferries that used to ply the waters of Puget Sound. I forget the name of the small white one on the left, but the one on the right is the Kalakala. It is in the process of being refurbished, and it is in dire need of funding to complete the job.
